DRAMATICALLY DARK BLUE
For this kitchen renovation, D-CON started off by knocking out a wall, creating the illusion of more space and increasing the social nature of the kitchen – a big benefit when hosting friends and family. To give the kitchen a bold, modern feel, D-CON chose dark blue cabinets while opting for white for the walls and countertops. This colour dichotomy not only added balance to the space, but also created a striking aesthetic contrast. Finally, pine wood accents were chosen to add depth and visual interest.
LIGHT, WHITE AND AIRY
To create better flow between rooms and let in more natural light, D-CON tore down the wall separating the living room and the kitchen. For the colour scheme D-CON chose a predominantly white canvas, giving the kitchen a modern, uncluttered feel. And, finally, to prevent the room from appearing monotonous, laminate wood flooring was selected to add an air of warmth and luxury while black accents in the form of custom steel cabinets and bar chair frames, both by Studio Delta, add interest through contrast.
PATTERNED AND PURPLE
D-CON really loves that this client chose something personal and unique that suits her personality. For this custom kitchen, the client requested purple walls and patterned wall tiles, two decor choices that would-be renovators should really give more consideration as patterned wall tiles are a great way of adding a unique touch to a room and, depending on the pattern, can help you achieve a variety of design styles such as trendy, vintage or modern. While embracing colour is a great way to personalise your kitchen and add some vibrancy, D-CON recommends choosing one or two well-thought out accents such as a bold wall, colourful kitchen cabinets or an interesting wallpaper to avoid saturating the space.
